Crystal Palace have announced the signing of Emmanuel Adebayor on a deal until the end of the season.
Adebayor, 31, returns to Barclays Premier League action having played for Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur since arriving in 2006.
His BPL career started at Arsenal, who signed him in the January 2006 transfer window. With the Gunners the striker scored 46 league goals in 104 matches before moving to Manchester City in July 2009.
Adebayor's BPL record
Team | Dates | Apps | Goals |
Spurs | 2011-15 | 92 | 35 |
Man City | 2009-12 | 34 | 15 |
Arsenal | 2006-09 | 104 | 46 |
Total | 230 | 96 |
At the Etihad Stadium, the Togo forward scored 15 goals in 34 league appearances, before moving to Real Madrid on loan.
He returned to England to spend the 2011/12 season on loan at Spurs before making his registration permanent there. At White Hart Lane, Adebayor got 35 BPL goals in 92 matches before his release last summer.
Palace are next in BPL action when they host AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday 2 February and Alan Pardew, the Palace manager, will hope Adebayor can revive the fortunes of a team who are winless in their past six matches, losing the last four, while scoring only one goal.
Adebayor, who will wear the No 25 shirt, will be looking to add to his formidable record of having scored for all of his three English clubs on his league debut.
He will also be targeting Didier Drogba's record as the top-scoring African in Barclays Premier League history with 104 goals.
